"Doris puts her all into every number. Work doesn't scare her. If it takes all night to do a number right, she'll stay up all night. She studies and plans every move, and when the cameras roll, she looks and acts totally relaxed. I guess the whole point is to make it look easy, even though you break your back to get it that way." - Perry Como from The Doris Day Companion A Beautiful Day by Pierre Patrick and Garry McGee
"The phenomenon of Doris Day as entertainer, as America's perennially evergreen sweetheart, has progressed almost beyond comment. Almost. Years and years ago, in the movie 'Romance on the High Seas,' Miss Day sang 'It's Magic' and emerged as a cute, perk, frisky, bubbly bundle of energy. It's been magic ever since. The camera filters may have turned the haze into a mysterious haze, but that's still our own familiar Doris Day bouncing around in there." - John J. O'Connor New York Times March 17, 1971
