Celebrating Doris' 95th Birthday in Carmel!

 Doris' fans made their annual trek to Carmel, California to celebrate her 93rd birthday on April 3rd only to discover we were really celebrating Doris' 95th birthday! Of course the press was all abuzz over the news.

The Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF) put together a wonderful fun filled weekend for all. Friday March 31st as well as Saturday April 1st featured a merchandise table at the Cypress Inn staffed by DDAF volunteers.

Friday night featured a concert featuring the wonderful Scott Dreier and special guest Laura Didier.  The DDAF also held an auction selling some wonderful memorabilia.

Friday night also featured celebrities Peter Baldwin, actor, director and producer who had a role in Teacher's Pet and Miriam Nelson, actress and choreographer who taught Doris the steps in Lullaby of Broadway. Both shared wonderful memories of working with Doris. Miriam at 97 years young even entertained us with a tap dance!

Saturday, April 1st featured a reception for the fans with a celebrity meet and greet. The DDAF also auctioned and raffled items signed by Doris and from her personal wardrobe. The night culminated with a birthday cake for our dear lady.

On Sunday, April 2nd Doris made an appearance on her balcony to greet fans who had come from as far away as Germany and Australia. She spoke to many of the fans assembled there via telephone. She was a vision in blue. We wish her the best and cannot wait to see her again next year!
